BRISBANE – 21 April 2010: Brisbane law graduate Dave Thompson has just landed at Brisbane Domestic Airport, after visiting ten landmarks across Australia in just three days, winning $10,000 worth of Qantas flights.

Having completed eleven flights in three days, including two red-eyes in a row, Dave has been crowned the winner of Race Around Oz with Wotflight.

Dave trumped fellow racer Jess Beswick from Canberra, who was pipped at the post after she was disqualified in Sydney for forgetting to take photographic evidence in front of the correct landmark, meaning she was racing to make up time.

Over the past three days Dave has visited the Super Pit in Kalgoorlie (just after the earthquake), the Fannie Bay Gaol in Darwin, Knopwoods Retreat in Hobart, as well as landmarks in Sydney, Melbourne, Townsville, Cairns, Perth, Adelaide. His tenth and final landmark was the iconic suburb of Fyshwick in Canberra.

Wotflight General Manager, Brand Megan Magill said Dave was excited but extremely tired.

“Dave has had no sleep in nearly three days, so he’s doing well to be as coherent as he is at the moment,” Ms Magill said.

“Jess has put up some stiff competition, but Dave made it back the fastest, so he’s the winner.”

Dave is said to be treating his parents to a holiday in Tahiti with some of his win.
